John Deere machines are built to handle long hours of demanding outdoor work. Whether that's a utility tractor, a commercial zero-turn mower, or a heavy-duty gator, your equipment is constantly exposed to the elements. Over time, intense UV rays, rain, mud, and everyday wear can cause your factory high-back vinyl seats to crack, fade, and split.
At Black Mountain All Terrain, we believe your machinery deserves protection that works as hard as you do. We are proud to offer our custom-fit 21-inch high-back John Deere seat covers for your gator, engineered for extreme durability and a flawless look.
To help you get a tight, professional, wrinkle-free fit, Black Mountain All Terrain has put together a quick and comprehensive video walkthrough. Below, we break down the simple steps and minimal tools you will need to completely transform and safeguard your seat.
Tools Needed
You only need one basic hand tool to complete this installation:
13mm socket and ratchet
Step-by-Step Installation
This installation is designed to be quick and straightforward. Removing the seat from the mounting frame gives you complete access to secure the cover perfectly.
1. Remove the Seat Base Mounting Bracket
Locate the hardware on the underside of your seat assembly.
Use your 13mm socket to remove the bolts holding the seat base mounting bracket in place.
Carefully lift the seat out of the machine and place it on a clean workbench or flat surface to avoid scratching the materials.
2. Prep the Custom Seat Cover
Take your custom Black Mountain All Terrain seat cover and locate the drawstring cordage at the bottom.
Remove the plastic barrel lock and the washer from the cordage and set them aside for later.
Unfasten the velcro tracks and unzip the main zipper track.
3. Slide and Align the Bottom Cushion Cover
Turn your John Deere seat onto its side on your workspace.
Slide the bottom portion of the seat cover smoothly over the lower cushion.
Check the Alignment: As you pull the fabric taut, ensure that the pre-fabricated access holes in the bottom of the cover line up with the threaded base holes on the bottom of the seat frame. This ensures you can easily bolt the mounting bracket back on later.
4. Route the Cord and Prep the Top
Locate the drawstring cord and route it cleanly through the built-in drain hole in the center-bottom of your factory seat cushion.
Flip the seat over, slide the washer back onto the cordage, and reinstall the plastic barrel lock. Keep it slightly loose for now so you still have flexibility to adjust the fabric.
Pull the upper half of the seat cover firmly up and over the backrest.
5. Secure the Closures and Reinstall
Pull the cover completely tight over the foam, ensuring all seams sit squarely along the edge of the seat.
Pull the zipper completely closed across the back.
Reach underneath, pull the drawstring cordage firmly to cinch the bottom tight, lock the plastic barrel lock down securely, and fasten the integrated velcro tracks.
Place the seat back into the machine frame and use your 13mm socket to re-tighten the mounting bracket bolts.
